Layla meets the Skardons!

Yesterday, we drove up the countryside to visit Nana Bev, John, and the rest of the gang in Walhalla, SC. I have it marked in Layla's baby book as her first vacation or road trip overnight away from home. It was so good getting to see everyone and the munchkins had a blast.

Nana, John, and Layla.

Maybe I'll give Nana a smile!
Nana and John set Carter up a little pool to play in. As you can see, he was very occupied.

Visit with GG

My grandma Betty (my dad's mom)and George came down to visit us for a couple of days from Ohio. This was her first time meeting Carter and Layla. Of course you know Carter has "never" met a stranger and enjoyed getting to show someone else his books and trains.

Dinner Time!

Not to much going on here tonight. I started work back today so I was upset to leave Layla for the first time. Here are a few pictures of my munchkins eating dinner.

Yummy..chicken nuggets, rice, and strawberries.
Wild hair joining her brother for dinner. Al definitely bathed her last night and she ended up with that crazy hair!

Layla wanting her dinner too!
Playing on her jungle mat. She still doesn't know what to think of it.

Happy Father's Day

This year was a great father's day for us. We celebrated our morning with homemade cinnamon toast and daddy opening up his presents. We then spent the afternoon with paw-paw at his pool and had a cookout. It was definitely a great father's day this year. My munchkins are so lucky to have such a wonderful daddy! I also wanted to wish all the other fathers a Happy Father's Day!

The card the kids and I made for Al. Poor little Layla's hand print..I tried.
Al's presents for being a wonderful daddy! The one in the red envelope is what Carter made for Al at school.
Opening his gift.....drum roll............
Al is always complaining how he never has any togo coffee mugs so I had one made so that when he drinks his coffee every morning he can see his two favorite little people!
What Carter made Al at school. So precious! These are always the best gifts.
The other part of the card.
Happy father's day paw-paw!
Still trying to get that tan!

It's getting hot in here, so take off all your clothes!

Today was a very hot day in the deep south so we decided to spend it at the pool (which we have been doing a lot lately). Carter finally broke his fear of the pool and played in it all afternoon.

Carter and I ready to hit the pool.
Carter and daddy in the pool. Sorry not the best photos..they were taken with my phone.
Carter still a little unsure of what to make of the pretty blue pool water.
Catching some rays..trying to anyways.
WATCH OUT BOYS!!!! Little miss Layla was strutting her rolls in her nice little bikini at the pool today. Daddy had his eye out for any little baby boy that might crawl her way.

1 Month

Happy one month Layla Nicole. This last month has been great watching Layla grow and change! She had her one month appointment at the doctor yesterday and we learned that her height at the hospital had been miscalculated, however, she is still a long baby. We learned that her motor skills are that of a 6-8 week old's level. Here are her new stats:

Height: 22 1/2 inches >95%
Weight: 12lbs 1oz >95%
Head Circumference: 40cm >90%

As you can see, she still has manged to keep her stats in the upper 90th percentile or off the charts completely. We were looking through Carter's baby book and at birth he weighed 7lbs 12oz and at his first month check up he was 11lbs 4oz. It appears miss Layla is right on track..just a little bigger then her brother at a month old. The doctor assured us her weight would eventually slow down and she would be around the same as other babies her age.
Sweet girl!
The dress she is wearing was mine as a baby! I was lucky to still have them to dress her in.

Here is some videos of Layla this past month.

Lake Hartwell!

Saturday, we took our first road trip as a family of four to Lake Hartwell for the day. It was a blast! Carter was a little sketchy of the lake at first but enjoyed swimming in the lake and taking his first boat ride..even little Layla experienced her first boat ride. By the end of the day, Al and I were exhausted from tubing, riding the jet skis, and watching two little ones.

Not happy to be in his life jacket.
Al and I getting ready to go tubing. We didn't look this cute when we returned. Julie's dad tried his hardest to throw us off but we managed to survive!
Little Layla watching all the action.
Carter still unsure about his first boat ride.
But..we think he got reassured rather quickly.

Us, swimming in the middle of the lake!
