Mama returns to Duty
This was an exhausting weekend. It was my first weekend back at Dobbins and it is a good thing little miss Layla is sleeping through the night. Getting up at 0430, this tired hard working Mama needed all the sleep she could get. It was great being back but hard being away from my munchkins. It was also Al's first weekend alone with both kids. I'll give the guy credit..the nipples might not have been boiled or the kids might have stayed in their PJs all day but he held down the fort pretty well. What an awesome daddy!
My sweet baby girl and I.
Kisses from Mama
Time to go..don't we look cheerful for 0400?
Kissing my little man bye. Notice how he sleeps in his big boy bed..I was glad I got to tuck him back in.
I know this is a little blurry, but I had Al send me pictures of the munchkins all day.
Glad to see smiles while I was at work.

Hanging Out
I had this past Monday off so it was just the munchkins and I. It had been a while since we got dirty in the sand so that is how we spent our Monday afternoon and it was HOT!
He loves sand.
Don't eat it..by the time we came inside Carter had a full sand goatee.

She was supervising her brother..but I think a nap suited her better.
Carter and his sand goatee. It's amazing what drool from your two year old molars mixed with sand will do.
Mator Pickin
This summer, my garden has done awesome. My herbs and plants just sprung right up this year. Our tomatoes have finally turned from green to red so I let Carter pick some for us to cut up and enjoy. There is nothing like a home grown tomato.
We might have to let this guy sit in the window a few days.

Still some green ones..if I wasn't watching what I eat I would slice those right up and fry them..yummy!

These will do for now. I am ready to make some tomato sandwiches, BLT's, homemade salsa, and eat them in a salad. (Do know..those foods are not on Al's menu)

Happy Independence Day!
We celebrated the 4th of July at the Edmondson's house last night and had a blast enjoying the fireworks and eating all the good food. We had some grilled sausage, T-bones steaks, corn, and my amazing Peach Cobbler! Carter loved all the colorful lights while Layla slept through the show. We were out pretty late last night that everyone hit the sheets and did not wake up until pure daylight.
Layla's first 4th of July!
The bib says it all.

Al and Carter enjoying the fireworks!

The camera can never really catch how beautiful they are in person!

Carter and I watching the show.

Haley's homeade Peach Cobbler
Craig had come down to Atlanta for a few days and brought Al and I some yummy peaches from Peach County, Georgia. They are suppose to be the best..so I made a cobbler from scratch.
2 cups of peaches (usually 4-5 peaches..if you do not have fresh peaches you can used canned with no sugar because you will need to add your own)
1/2 cup of sugar
Combine peaches and sugar and place in refrigerator for 20 minutes. Meanwhile preheat oven to 350 and melt one stick of butter or margarine in a 9 x9 pan.
The batter:
3/4 cups of flour
1 cup of sugar
2 tsp. of baking powder
1/4 tsp. of salt
3/4 cup of milk
Combine all ingredients until you get a nice consistency. Pour batter over melted butter and add cold peaches (do not stir). Batter will rise in oven and cover peaches. Cook on 350 for 35-45 minutes. Let sit 10 minutes after baking and add vanilla ice cream if you like.

Add peaches. *Remember not to stir after you add them.

New Bed!
Bye bye crib because Carter has moved on to bigger and better things. A nice full sized bed fully decked out in Thomas the Train of course. He was so excited to be in his new bed! Now that we have the crib down, we start the focus on the working progress of Layla's room.
Carter's new bed! It was actually mine when I was a child. I think I was three when I started sleeping in it.
Where the crib used to be. His room is still a working progress but amazon couldn't get more of his Thomas decor here any quicker.
Happy fella!

"Night night mommy and daddy, I wuv you!" It almost made me want to cry not see him in his crib. He is growing up too fast.
Layla's princess decor which will always remain the same for obvious reasons.
Just a few layers of paint on their walls we will be set. Oh and of course we will have to move out Layla's future bed until she is old enough to sleep in it.
